It’s been a while, but I’m finally back! What a busy, crazy spring it has been. Keith and I have done three different large trade shows – Victoria, Abbotsford, and Toronto, we’ve published a new, 16 page flyer, we launched two new sewing machine lines in our stores – Bernina and Elna, and now we’ve just returned from an extended buying trip! Pam and I flew to Salt Lake City in the middle of this month to attend Spring Quilt Market, which is always fun and overwhelming with all the beautiful things there are to see there. When Quilt Market was finished, we flew on to Reno, Nevada for the annual HusqvarnaViking sewing machine convention. Keith and Pam’s husband Mark joined us there as well. It’s no wonder that I’m feeling like a need a rest. The most exciting thing this spring though was news from our son and daughter-in-law when they told us that we are going to be grandparents for the first time! We are all so excited about this and can hardly wait until October when the little one will arrive. Finally we get to join the grandparents club! Now that I have only one more trip this spring (I’m off to Chicago in a couple of weeks for a Bernina software training!), I’m looking forward to doing a lot of baby sewing.
It seems fitting that when Pam and I were at Quilt Market, we noticed that one of the themes we saw in many vendor’s booths was BABY! We saw baby fabrics, baby clothes, baby quilts, baby shoes and even baby diapers! I was walking from aisle to aisle saying – “Oh, that is so cute, I hope it’s a boy!” And then, “Oh, no, now I hope it’s a girl!” By the time we finished walking the show, I had seen so many great baby things that I was wishing we were having twins and one of each so that I could sew more! Over the next few months, I’m going to take you on my journey of baby sewing and share with you some of the projects I create!
I loved these baby shoes and this nursery that we saw at Quilt Market. I can hardly wait to start sewing. I brought lots of photos back of various fabrics so that my son and daughter-in-law can choose the nurserytheme they want for their home!
Here are a few more photos from our trip to Salt Lake City for Quilt market:
Food was another theme that we saw at Quilt Market this year. Lots of cupcakes, donuts, and even ice cream cones in the various booths!
Accuquilt has 11 new dies coming out for the GO! cutters – I think that we’ll have them instock in about a week. These dies are meant to work with existing die sets and they are beautiful! Here are a couple of projects made with the new Holiday Accessories dies and the Sleigh and Snowflakes dies. There are also pumpkins, birds (another popular theme at market!), new strip cutters, and other shapes that will expand your quilt cutting abilities!
Clover’s new Kanzashi Flower Makers make great fabric embellishments for all kinds of projects from quilts to wearable art and accessories. these flowers are quick and easy to make and look beautiful. These Flower Makers are in stock now and should be up on our website very shortly!
Some of the beautiful quilts in the Phillips Fiber Art booth. They have great books, patterns and tools!
Stay tuned as I write about more details of our trip over the next little while, including details of the fabulous new Husqvarna Designer Diamond Deluxe sewing machine that was launched this week in Reno!
I’ll write again soon!
