This is a “must take” class for anyone wanting to sew a garment that fits! There are a total of 4 classes in Pattern Fitting, which follow the same basic format described below. Garment construction skills are required as you will need to know how to sew a garment sample at home on your own in between classes. Note that these are fitting classes, not construction classes.
In the first class, Donna will supply the pattern and muslin in the participant’s size. Each student will be individually fitted with the necessary pattern adjustments made appropriate to her body shape and figure type.During this fitting, you'll learn techniques for a variety of figure types. At the end of this class, the participants will take the adjusted pattern home to sew a muslin from it.
Participants bring their new muslin pattern to the second class where Donna will perform another fitting, checking changes and fine-tuning fit until you are satisfied with the look. You will leave this class with a custom pattern on poster board (also referred to as a sloper) which is a sturdy pattern that may be used with ease, over and over again.Donna will discuss some pattern manipulation for creative design changes to a basic pattern, in order that your garment does not always look the same.Donna Ringham, Two 3-hour classes for each garment type.$65 + Supplies.Kit fee of $15 payable to instructor at first class.
