We are pleased to offer Beginner Sewing at both of our stores.  In this very popular class, you will be taught the basics of sewing machine operation as well as basic sewing techniques in this comprehensive introductory level course.  You will learn how to select and sew the best seams and seam finishes for different weights and types of fabrics, how to sew with knits, insert a zipper, sew with a twin needle to create a double stitched hem, how to mark and sew darts and how to read commercial patterns.  Learn about different threads, needles, stitches, presser feet and more in this great beginner level class.  Practice your skills by first sewing a decorative pillow with darts, a zipper and flat fell seam.  Having mastered those skills, you will learn how to sew easy fit yoga pants (YES, a pair of pants!  And with knits!)  Two lessons in one.  If you have never sewn before – this is the class for you.  Let us help you get started in this fun and creative hobby.  Sherry Madill / Jeane Neyndorff  Four 3-hour classes.  $94 (Includes Workbook) + Supplies.

This series of classes are designed to teach the basic sewing skills necessary to construct simple clothing items, such as pants, skirts and dresses.  For each class you will be required to purchase a kit in which all supplies needed to construct sewing samples is included, along with written instructions.  These samples can then be kept as reference when sewing at home.  Donna Ringham.  One 3-hour session ea.  $26 + $15 Kit Fee payable to Instructor for each session.

 You will learn 4 zipper insertion techniques; centered, lapped, fly front and invisible.

This series of classes are designed to teach the basic sewing skills necessary to construct simple clothing items, such as pants, skirts and dresses.  For each class you will be required to purchase a kit in which all supplies needed to construct sewing samples is included, along with written instructions.  These samples can then be kept as reference when sewing at home.  Donna Ringham.  One 3-hour session ea.  $26 + $15 Kit Fee payable to Instructor for each session.

You will learn 5 waistline finishes; straight, curved, faced, elastic and a partial elastic waistband.

You will learn how to set in a regular and a gathered sleeve, a raglan sleeve and how to face an armhole/neckline.

This series of classes are designed to teach the basic sewing skills necessary to construct simple clothing items, such as pants, skirts and dresses.  For each class you will be required to purchase a kit in which all supplies needed to construct sewing samples is included, along with written instructions.  These samples can then be kept as reference when sewing at home.  Donna Ringham.  One 3-hour session ea.  $26 + $15 Kit Fee payable to Instructor for each session.

You will learn how to sew the following: Seams – straight, curved, eased, french, flat-felled, taped, etc.  Seam Finishes – pinked, zig-zagged, top-stitched, under-stitched, etc.  Hemlines – straight, curved, blind-stitched, rolled, etc. In this class we will learn to use both machine and hand stitches depending on the technique.

Start by making yourself a fun and cozy pair of long pajama pants with Laura’s help.  With this pattern, you can make a pair for other members of your family as it is a multi-sized pattern for both men and women.  It has lots of options to put your sewing skills into service by making tops, camisoles or two other lengths of pants.  Laura More.  One 3-hour session.  $21 + Supplies.

Sew Easy Pajama Pants

Here is an excellent beginner sewing class or for someone just wanting to get some of their gifts made early! In this class we will be making a pair of long pajama pants to keep you warm and toasty on those cool nights.   The pattern booklet also gives you the option of making capri length pants, and adding on a tote, pillowcase and bracelet.  Sherry Madill.  One 3-hour session.  $21 + Supplies.

Retro Aprons

Aprons are all the rage!  And retro is back again….  Spend a few hours with us to make a body flattering fun apron as a gift or just for special you!  The booklet we will be using features several styles in a multi-sized format – so there is something for everyone.  We will be teaching the Gathered Front Apron with a flirty little ruffle along with bottom.  Cute enough to wear as a dress (as long as you keep your back to the wall).  Sherry Madill.  One 3-hour session.  $21 + Supplies.

Little Retro Aprons for Kids

Kids are retro too!  This multi-size pattern/booklet has several options in aprons, plus an apron for an 18” doll!  Our sample has a large overall flower pattern, with a flippy little ruffle with a contrasting stripe which has been repeated in the cute little pocket treatment.  Since it is retro – rick-rack is back as well.  We have added an accent of colour around the armholes, neck and flounce with a fun, wide rick-rack!
