Quick and easy Quilt as you Go Christmas project

October 25, 2016

This product is wonderful and easy to use. It is from June Tailor and it is the “Quilt as You Go” Sophisticated Strips Quilt Pattern on pre-printed 80% cotton/20% polyester batting. Perfect for either the beginner or the experienced; someone that needs a quick and easy project to finish. It is easy piece-by-number construction which allows you to automatically quilt as you sew.

Selectiaak-15268-1-copyahe-15965-2-copyng the fabric was easy as I wanted to get a quick quilt done in a Christmas theme for a child. We have a great selection of cute fabric with winter animals. Aren’t the foxes cute?? Then I cut the 10″ and 5″ strips needed and pieced them on the pre-printed lines on the batting. Because I was quilting as I went along, it recommends a 1/2″ seam and not to use an iron but rather finger press the seams in place.

Once I finished all the piecing and everything was in place, I could have just squared it up a14560864156511994406093-copynd then added the binding, but I decided to use another product that I had used before and just love. I used expansion pack number 5 from Edge-to-Edge Quilting by Amelie Scott designs. This is an open quilting pattern, but is all done on an embroidery machine. Once you master this technique, which takes no time at all, you will want to do all your quilts this way. Using a template, I just kept hooping the quilt, matching up the start marks on my template and then after all is complete I bury the thread tails. Very easy and very impressive. This is a close up of one of the sections of the quilt. You can see the winter themed designs! Can you make out the Christmas tree, the star and the reindeer??20161019_120113_hdr

The quilt was then squared up, the binding was added (thanks to Celeste) and here is the completed quilt!!

I love it and it only took me 2 days to complete.Come on into the Surrey/Langley store, it is hanging with the samples.

Until next time, Susansmily-face
