True North fabric line.

We are thrilled to announce we have just received this much anticipated line of fabric from MODA. Our supplier Trend-tex fabric knew this was going to be a popular line and is exclusive only to Canadian Shops. We first saw this line before Christmas 2018, and although we were not in the mood for shopping for Winter or even Christmas themed fabric, we knew this was one line we had to have in our shops. The fabric is designed by Kate & Birdie Paper Co, a Canadian Company with its roots in Manitoba. The company, established in 2004, offers Canadian made Stationary and Paper products to the global market. Over the last couple years, they have collaborated with premier manufacturing partners to develop fabric lines. Their palette is both soft and fresh and the patterns and designs on the fabric are classic.

There has much buzz on social media about this fabric line, with many American consumers upset that it will not be carried at their local quilt shops. At the beginning of 2019 we received in some pre-cuts of this fabric line and it just flew off the shelves. Now we have full bolts of every fabric in the True North line and we know it will sell out fast.

To describe the fabric, I would say it is very Canadiana without being overly patriotic, just like most Canadians. The colours are soft, but when you look at it you know it shows off our Canadian way of life. Wouldn’t these fabrics make a wonderful quilt, a table runner, place mats or even a Tote bag. There is even some MODA grunge fabrics that match in with this lines colour palette.

I have already bought the Fat Quarter bundle and am going to design and make a lovely quilt for my family. We would love to see what you end up making with this line of fabric!

Until next time, happy sewing and quilting!!
