It is only days away from Christmas 2017 and for anyone that is still looking for a very quick and super easy “HOMEMADE” project, this is the project for you. These would make the perfect gift for the coffee, tea, juice, cocktail, beer and wine lover on your list!! This is a charm pack friendly project, but if you don’t have a charm pack lying around, just cut your fabric into 5″ squares and you will be ready to go.
We hope you enjoy this project and have a fun time making these for your family and friends.
Until next time,
Susan

We are in the final week before Christmas and like most of you, are trying to get everything done. For those of us that live in the Lower Mainland, we have seen snow covered streets in some areas and green grass in others. Today the sun is out and the snow is slowly melting, traffic to and from work is lighter, but the streets and parking lots at all the major Malls is crazy with traffic. My final installment in ideas for Christmas come in the more than $50 category and finally the big ticket items “Sewing Machines”!!! We have so many great notions and storage items for anyone that sews or quilts or embroiders on your list, but they will probably have all those great gadgets to help with everyday projects. Why not get them that fabulous iron to take to class, or the Oliso Smart iron which makes ironing a pleasure or a larger cutting or rotating mat. We tend to not want to spend the bigger dollars on ourselves, but deep down would love to receive them as a gift. I think the item I would LOVE to receive this year as a gift are the 9″ KAI cutting shears!! I do a lot of garment sewing, especially with finer fabrics and these scissors would be an excellent addition to my sewing basket. Might have to put those in my letter to Santa!!
I have saved the biggest and best items for last. Do you have or do you know anyone that is in the market for a new sewing machine this Christmas? We have so many machines to choose from and in every price range as well. We not only would like to sell you a machine, but we care about your success with that machine. With every machine sale we offer one on one instruction in order for you to get to know and master the machine. These lessons are usually about one hour in length and are available during the first year of you owning a machine purchased from A Great Notion!! All you have to do is give us a call, set up an appointment, and you will be on the road to mastering your machine.
We also offer other classes, depending on which make and model of machine you purchase from us. We offer “Master” classes, which we go over everything from threading, to maintenance to what all those feet are used for. We offer sewing and embroidery clubs; a monthly 2-hour class getting to know even more about your machine, even doing a little project in class, but most of all we offer our in house expertise from our staff. We have staff that are experts in the machines that we sell, and above all else, we want you to succeed with your machine and use it to its full capabilities.
We sell Baby Lock, Bernina, Husqvarna and Elna machines at our Surrey/Langley location and at our Abbotsford location we sell Baby Lock, Bernina, Husqvarna and Pfaff.
Here is just a small picture of some of the amazing machines we have to offer.
So whether you are just starting off, or upgrading to a bigger machine, or you need to add a Serger to your ever growing list of machines that you own we have something that would suit your needs. We even have a Long Arm quilting machine with frame and software just waiting for a new home!! Why not surprise that special someone with a new machine!!
Wishing you all the PEACE, LOVE and JOY this season has to offer!!
Until next time,
Here is my list of some wonderful items that are priced between $20 and $50!! The Jumbo Click Box will hold almost everything that is needed for class, and the Folding Desk Lamp gives you the light you need and then is compact enough to store away! the Thread Cutter pendant is not only a lovely piece of jewelry, but also has the notch edges that can cut thread and is safe for Airline travel. I have the Hoopscissors and I love them; they are curved just enough and have a very sharp point to get up close to your fabric and thread to cut. The Go Travel Iron is great not only for travel, but also to take to class!!
Until next time,
Here is my list of useful and wonderful items that would be a great addition to anyone’s sewing basket. Most of these things I own myself and have used over and over. My newest favourite is the Bobbin and Supply Box. I have it filled with all the notions, bobbins, thread and even candies that I need to get the projects and samples done at work. Everything is neat and tidy in its own compartment. My EZ snips are always within an arms reach, especially when I am doing embroidery and the Mini Wonderclips truly are one of my all time favourite items!! We have so many more great notions in the store that are reasonably priced for that sewer or quilter or embroiderer in your life. Don’t forget we also offer gift cards when you are just not sure of the perfect gift to give.
Until next time,
